The volunteers in the Ann Arbor SCORE Chapter have rich and varied business backgrounds. Mentors share their business experience and knowledge in all aspects of small business. In addition, all mentors have specific areas of expertise.

Mark Aben - Budgeting, Business Planning, Cost Accounting, Financial Analysis, Banking, Commercial Lending, SBA programs

Mark has 10+ Years in Accounting / Finance and 25+ Years in Commercial Lending


John Berkaw  – Business Planning, Financial Planning, Commercial Lending, Venture Capital

John worked with a large commercial bank in their commercial lending, leasing, and venture capital businesses and then spun off and worked for 20 years with his own venture capital companies and also formed an investment banking
company focusing on mergers, acquisitions and financing.
  


Colette Douglas - Customer/Client Service Training/Coaching, Selling Techniques, Keynote Speaker Training.  


Colette acquired over 15 years of experience as a wealth manager with a large financial institution, 6 years as a corporate contributions manager and 10 years in human resources.  Currently, she serves as president of her own firm which specializes in customer service training.  She is a keynote speaker and conducts seminars and webinars to demonstrate how to deliver outstanding customer service internal and external customers.

Steve Feinman –  District Director, Project Management, Business Planning, Financial Planning, Business Strategies


Steve has extensive experience in business development, marketing as well as strategic planning and execution for small business. Business sectors strengths include the creative arts, government contracting, food services, and construction. In addition to face to face mentoring, I develop and provide workshops for small business including art marketing, strategic marketing and sales, business model canvas and government contracting. Named the 2015 SBA  Small  Business counselor of the year by the  Small Business Administration Michigan District Office.

 Trained as a chemical engineer, Graham spent many of his later years on the financial end of a

multi-national chemical company.


Mitchell Goodkin – Start-Up, Marketing, Business Plans, Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Legal
                    

Mitch is an attorney, licensed Professional Engineer, MBA and past chair of the Information Technology Law Section of the Michigan Bar. Mitch has over 30 years experience addressing business and technology related legal issues, and the assessment, legal protection, marketing and licensing of intellectual property.  He also has had significant experience with computer maintenance, manufacturing automation, engineering, systems analysis, programming, quality control/assurance, product planning, IT management and engineering management.  He is also a Senior Life Member of SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) and a Senior Life Member of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers).  In addition, he holds an Extra Class amateur radio license.


Ken Handweger * - Human Resources; Training; Employee Development; Leadership

Ken has worked in HR in the public, corporate, and private sectors at Eastern Michigan University, Ford Motor Co., and as director of a 600 employee privately-held Healthcare Co. that was named one of the top 100 workplaces in MI.  Ken currently works for a national training company conducting leadership classes and does HR consulting as a partner with an HR firm and as an independent.  Ken can help with HR issues for start-ups and small businesses including recruiting/hiring/interviewing/onboarding; compensation; employee handbooks & policies; performance management; job descriptions; employee relations; leadership training; and HR compliance matters.

Rick Scofield – Manufacturing, Banking, Business Acquisition, International Business, and Business Planning

Rick owned and operated an international auto supplier for 35 years. He started facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, and purchased operations in the U.S. and England. Rick still owns an electronics company in England. Other experience includes 17 years on a bank board and many years on numerous civic and charity boards.

Daniela Todorova, Ph.D- Start up, Business Planning, Research, Lean Manufacturing, Training, Computers, Operations, Project Management, Six Sigma Lean

Daniela has more than 16 years’ experience in manufacturing. Her research interest is in successful lean implementations in different service and manufacturing settings.

Michelle is a senior business consultant. She is also a commercial realtor and business broker. Her expertise is in business growth, as well as exit strategies, start-ups through exiting, for small-to-medium sized businesses.

Mark has over 38 years experience in engineering, marketing, product planning and international business.

Tamara Jaros *

Tamara has been a small business owner for the last 10 years specializing in online marketing through email and social media marketing.  Her areas of expertise are Start-Up, Online Marketing, and Training.  She shares her experience and knowledge with SCORE members through our monthly workshops and webinars.

Ken Kuna – Manufacturing, Business Planning, Business Improvement, Lean Implementation, Process Analysis

Ken spent 37 years in Manufacturing within a component division at Ford Motor and in the supply base, then spent 7 years in the administration at a local University implementing new degree programs and raising funds. Ken also ran and improved a non-profit community theater for six years.

Craig Lesley – Marketing, Sales and Strategic Planning

Craig spent 32 years as an executive of a large insurance company and most recently 10 years as a strategic planning consultant with a national practice


Dave Maxwell  –  Business Turnaround, Manufacturing, Business Planning, Finance & Administration, General Management


 

Kathryn MyersChapter Vice-Chair , General Management, Retail, Franchising, Business Planning, Marketing, Supply Chain, Web Design and E-commerce

Kathryn spent over 20 years in retail, where she was accountable for a multi-tiered international supply chain, global retail operations, future business development, real estate site selection and HR.  She then worked for 7 years with a global provider of early education and care services where she was responsible for operations, marketing, curriculum development and support, facilities, purchasing, and franchise support.  She currently manages an e-commerce platform and works on web design.
